It’s okay to wait.

As young adults the one thing we desire to seek are relationships. Especially in today’s society it is like it’s a “requirement” to go ahead a find a young man/ or woman because we want it and feel like we need it. As Christians we know that our God has that special someone in our lives already picked out, it is just the matter of waiting for the right time to meet that person. Waiting can be very frustrating, but I promise you that it will be worth it. For example, In high school I never rushed into dating because I knew God had a man in store for me but there were times when I wanted to find a boy and start dating him just so I can experience being in a relationship at least once in my lifetime. Of course I never I did that, but the questions were starting to dart at Him. I kept asking Him why I haven’t encountered the right man yet. Like literally this how my prayer would go ⇒ “Dear Lord I know you have the right man picked out for me but why haven’t you introduced him to me yet? Or at least shove a boy at me so i can experience dating at least once. I know there are strong Christian males out in this world but why are they just too hard to find?…”

You see that was the problem. I kept searching instead of sitting back and letting the Lord do his work. It wasn’t until recently when God gave me an answer to part of multiple questions. He proved to me that there are strong Christian males in this world, and that I just haven’t encountered them yet. Now whether that specific man is the “one” is up to the Lord for telling me, but it did give me assurance that there is nothing wrong with waiting. In fact being patient with the Lord is the best thing that you could possibly do because the more you wait, the more the Lord will think you’re ready to begin your future with your spouse. So don’t rush into the dating scene. It is okay to wait for the time to come, and especially pray for your partner too. Even though you don’t know them just yet, doesn’t mean they aren’t praying for you too, and that right there is something special to look forward to.

Resolute (part 3)

DANIEL 6

Resolute: Admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering.

3 areas we must stand resolute:

  1. STAND RESOLUTE: IN YOUR CHARACTER
    – Character: Who you are when no one is looking.

– Who am I when no one is looking?

* fun fact: Daniel is about 70 years old by Daniel chapter 6

Daniel 6:3 ” Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” ⇒ How are you distinguishing yourself in life?

– There are different ways to distinguish yourself to make you stand out.

– If you don’t stand strong in your character of Christ, it will bite you back!

– You won’t be given places of Leadership, Authority, or Responsibility unless you have proven you can be trusted with the SMALL things.

– Small character flaws will sink your ship with God if you don’t handle it NOW!

2. STAND RESOLUTE: IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP PURSUIT

Daniel 6:10 “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”

– What is you pursuit posture?

– Excuses we make:

* I don’t have time

* I’m tired

– We can pursue Christ through prayer!

– We will never experience a relationship with God if we don’t pull the kite to catch the wind and roll us along.

– How to pursue God:

* Grab a journal

* Grab a pen and Bible

* Highlight verses ⇒ explain in your own words

* Pray about it

– We must put ourselves in that posture

– H.E.A.R. : Highlight, Explain, Apply, Respond

3. STAND RESOLUTE: IN OPPOSITION

2nd Timothy 3: 12-13 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

– When we face opposition it’s not guaranteed God will shut the lion’s mouth, but we just trust and know God has our backs

Daniel 6:20 ” When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice,” Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

Question : Has He saved me?

Answer : YES HE HAS!

HE IS ABLE!!!

Resolute (Part 2).

Daniel 3

King Neb (a.k.a. veggie tales bunny) builds a HUGE gold statue

Daniel 3:4-6 // ” Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”

*This was Right after King Neb. had met God

Romans 1:24-25 // “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator who is forever praised. Amen.”

– How often do we see God, only to go worship something else?

– GOD IS BIGGER THAN ANY STATUE WE CREATE

|| For fears of mortal death, they worshiped a statue, which cost them enternal life. In doing so they cost others enternal life too. Because everyone else was going to do it. WE VALUE OUR STATUES OVER THE HOLINESS OF GOD ||

You will do what you love…do you love Jesus?

Daniel 3: 8-19 || 15-16|| ” At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews. They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, ” May the king live forever! Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego- who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, ” Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to him,” King Nebuchadnezzar, we do no need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from You Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual.”

Daniel 3: 24-25 ” Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisors, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied,” Certainly, Your Majesty.” He said, ” Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

– JESUS SAVED THEM!!!

|| If you put yourself on the line for Him, He will be there with you in the fire ||

You know God is the only God but have you surrendered to Him?
Jesus saves, let Him save you.

Resolute

I started a 3 week series in Daniel 1 called Resolute, and I wanted to share my notes that I took out of the sermons. So with that being said, here is week 1 of Resolute.

There are consequences when coming to disobey God -> SIN WILL FIND YOU
Daniel and his friends were taken captive in luxury ; that’s how we want to be usually
In verse 5 is says “to be trained..”
– Literally: “to be made strong, great, wealthy, and important”

Daniel and his friend’s Jewish names were changed into false gods names, when held captive in Babylon

Daniel 1:8 ” But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.” -> but Daniel resolved not to defile himself…

Big Question: Are you resolved to not defile yourself?
-What does this mean?   ->     Resolve in Holiness

Leviticus 9:

Daniel resolved and said that nothing is more important than having intimacy and a relationship with God.

I have to follow these Godly rules vs. nothing can compare having intimacy with God

There can’t be anything more beautiful than God, and  normally we don’t see the beauty of God because we are distracted.

In our eyes it is just simple food, but I’m Daniel’s eyes it is sin

Standing resolute in Holiness requires:

  1. unquestionable obedience
  2. A willingness to do without (We are drawn to sin because we are scared of missing out)
  3. Trusting God as Lord regardless of the circumstances

1st Peter 3:15 // “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”

This is how we should resolve ourselves.

Types of concert goers.

Growing up, concerts were a daily thing to attend. Starting at the age of ten, my eyes were exposed to a whole new world that I just fell in love with. I went to many more throughout the years. Everything would be new from the band, the venue, and even the merchandise, but one thing that never changed were the people. Yes there are different people at each event, but how they acted were the same. No matter what kind of concert you attend there will always be at least three types of concert goers: the fake fans, the overly obsessed criers, and the “my daughter made me come” dads.

Do you ever go to a concert and see people stand still with their mouths closed until that one particular song starts to play? Those are called the fake fans. These are people that only know one song. Fake fans also call the artists by their fictional character they portray on a tv show. For example, the band R5 has produced two albums and several EPs of beautiful music, but every time I go to their concerts, I always see the fake fans who only know the song ‘Smile’, ‘Lets Not Be Alone Tonight’, and ‘Loud’. Also, the lead singer Ross Lynch, stars as Austin Moon in the show ‘Austin & Ally’. The fake fans only know him as that character instead of his own self, so they will never know how different he really is.

Next we have the overly obsessed criers. These are the ones that I will never understand how they can produce THAT many tears over one person. These emotional fans are deeply in love with the artist/band, and will cry for hours when basking in their existence. If you asked a fangirl about her feelings towards One Direction, she will say that she will cry a river if she ever met any of the boys in person. Some claim they cry of happiness because of how far the boys have gone in their career. Others say that One Direction has saved their lives through their music. These are just a few out of the numerous reasons why visible tears pour from a fangirl’s eyes, and that is just over one band!

Lastly we have my all time favorite fans that deserve so much credit as a parent. The “my daughter made me come” dads are the fathers who were forcibly dragged by their teenage daughters to a concert full of mostly screaming girls. As a daughter I have been known to drag my dad to multiple girl type concerts, and sometimes it turns out to be a good thing. When I took my dad to see R5 last summer he thought he was preparing himself by bringing ear plugs to block out the girl screams. He downloaded their songs so he could listen to them before the concert, so he would know some of the words. It sounds pretty silly, but now he actually likes R5 and listens to them all the time. Dads like these deserve so much credit because whether they like the artist or not, they survived a blood bath of obsessed teen girls who could blow anybody’s ear off with their screams and off key singing.

Being a concert goer, like myself, you will encounter multiple types of people, but that is what makes the experience even more memorable. The different kinds of concert goers are what makes a concert night fun and exciting. For me, I have made a ton of friendships through concerts too. I have never regretted one to this day either. Some may dislike the fact that these type of people exist, but in the end they all have one thing in common, their love for live music.

Loss.

Loss. A word that we are all too familiar with. It’s a word that can involve a sad feeling, a broken item, or just a definition that can break us down easily. The most common loss that we face are loss of loved ones. Now when you lose somebody you love, dead or alive, it can be tough. Your heart breaks into a million of pieces and it feels like it can’t be put back together again. But let me to something, death is a celebration.

A couple of years ago my dear friend lost her father unexpectedly. This morning my great-grandfather passed away expectedly. I celebrated both deaths because they both have something in common. They both had the Lord Almighty in their hearts.

You see, when you accept Jesus into your heart you never know when the Lord will call you to His forever home. Our REAL home. It is a beautiful place called Heaven. What is awesome is that when it is our time to come home, the Lord will give us brand new and healthy spiritual bodies. He will give us new names. No more suffering in pain anymore.

Sounds pretty amazing right? Well it is.

The reminder that I place over y’all’s hearts is that we don’t decide when it is time to go up with our Lord in Heaven. Only God will make that decision. Our jobs as Christians is to spread the good news here in our “home”. So be prepared because life is an unexpected rollercoaster and there may be a time when the Lord will turn it off of the tracks. And if the Lord decides to take a loved one of your own, remember that the are not suffering anymore and partying up with Jesus forever and ever.

Life of a not so famous youtuber.

Youtube. A website where human beings from across the whole world can film, edit, upload, and even watch videos of all kinds. A place where the creators of these viral videos are given the name ‘youtuber’. Some eventually become famous for their work that they get paid to make cool videos.. pretty awesome right? Now as a million of us start the beginning stages of being a baby youtuber, we start off with the bad quality software and the $30 camcorder we got for a birthday or Christmas. Then we will tend to make a video that is the hottest trend online, like carpool karaoke or the whisper challenge. And in an instant when it finally makes public we hope to magically gain 1k + subscribers over night, but of course that’s overthinking the impossible.

When I first started my channel is was only for silly singing covers from videos that I filmed when I was practicing for talent shows at school, so it wasn’t anything serious. Then high school came around and the big hits started to form like Bethany Mota and O2L, and as I watched and learned from their videos I got this tiny feeling that I wanted to try this out and see what the big deal was. And out of the videos I could’ve filmed, my first ever youtube video ended up being a one direction cover with the famous pitch perfect cup beat haha. Soon I started to upload my versions of the latest trending lifestyle videos. Even though I only had five subscribers ,at the time, I still kept the commitment on uploading weekly and pretended I was talking like a famous youtuber. It sounds silly, but that’s what motivated me to keep making these videos.

Eventually as I got older and senior year came around, I discovered my love for theatre and other projects in high school, so I faded out of the youtube phase, but I still upload whenever I can because I film for the fun of it.. not for the fame. Sadly, newcomers to the youtube community become optimistic, and not in the good way. They crave for the fame that other people gain after one video, and sometimes it works but that rarely happens. Making videos shouldn’t be job that needs to get done, it needs to be a hobby that is enjoyable. Halfway through my junior year of high school, I quit filming for a while because it was stressing me out to the point where I was filming and editing the night before the upload date. During that break I discovered my love for discovering new music and bands, and that’s when my original ideas start to kick in. It’s awesome to film your own version of a popular video, but I promise you that you will get even more credit for original videos.

A few months ago the production of A Chorus Line took place at the Hollywood Bowl, and Ross Lynch was in it. If you follow my twitter, then you know my love for the band R5 is huge so when the combination of musicals and Ross Lynch happened I just went crazy. That’s when my idea for a reaction video to him in a chorus line came up. That video alone bumped up my subscribers from 65 to 109.. all because of a video that was not only entertaining, but relatable. My point to this is that youtube fame doesn’t happen over night. You have to WANT to do it and LOVE it too. Here I am four years later and I only have 109 subscribers. That may not seem a lot, but to a person that will occasionally post videos when she can, that’s impressive. If you are wanting to try out the “youtube exprience” I encourage you to do it, and see if it’s something you really want to do. Do not put yourself down when that one video doesn’t turn you into the next Austin Mahone, keep pushing because I promise your day will come. *cues Andy Grammer*

A Clean Heart

“God create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast Spirit within me.” Pslams 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart, fill me with your Spirit God. Wake my soul to thirst for You alone.”

As Christians we tend to wander off sometimes, especially if we started off our new life at a very young age. As we grow up in society we’re introduced to new things that makes us think. Sadly some agree with society and roll away, but others choose to keep growing in their Faith, making them stronger than ever. And sometimes those Christians that rolled away find themselves wandering back and surrendering themselves again to God… to rededicate.

“Lord I’m wounded and worn out, everyday a battleground. This fight is harder than I ever thought it be. Oh, God I need Your Grace to finally be set free.”

As humans we like to hide things and keep them to ourselves. As Christians we know God can see and hear EVERYTHING, yet we still decide to hide away our sins from Him. Why? Why do we always run away when we need to be running towards Him and repent? In my perspective I think we’re scared. Scared to be shunned away by the God who forgives us from all our sins… no matter what they are. The more we hide, the more we become liars, the more access we are allowing satan to enter in and take. But one action can change all of that. Just by going down on your knees, bowing your head, closing your eyes, and speaking to God, admitting that you are a sinner and want to be His. I promise you after taking that one step things will start to change for the better. It’ll soon become a great habit that it could lead you to read more in the Bible. Some of you may be writers, so you could write in a journal for just you and God. Others may be musically inclined, so God could lead you to worship in your room or possibly writing your own worship songs and sing them with a worship band at church.
There are a ton of ways to grow closer to the Lord, and I encourage you to pray to God and ask Him, but none of that can happen until you SURRENDER yourself and allow God to be the ANCHOR in your life.

“Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God, the God I love. Here’s my heart Lord take a seal it. Seal it for Thy courts, Thy courts above.”

Song and lyrics: Create In Me // Kelby Dover
