Living Fearless.

We can all agree that being fearful is always inside of us. Like there is always that one, tiny thing that could scare us for the rest of our lives and it is like it is part of our human nature. Growing up, being afraid is something that I always dealt with, whether it was mentally or physically. Then one morning during my quiet time I came across a verse in Pslam and it read”

“The Lord is my light and my Salvation, so whom shall I fear.”

Y’all this verse was a wake-up call because it speaks so much truth. Why be afraid when you have the Lord Almighty right next to your shoulder wherever you go. He is YOUR protector and YOUR Father who will never abandon you no matter what you face. He never has so why would He now? When hard times come, know that He is there to guide your way through it. I try to live fearless and to walk with the confidence of God’s unconditional love, and I pray that you will too. So try to be fierce and fearless today – whether you are at school, work, or at home – because you ARE fierce and you ARE fearless.

His eye on the sparrow.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord,”I will rescue him;I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”  // Psalm 91:14-16

If we look at our tangible circumstances -> our struggles, our uncertainties, all the ways we feel we’re failing at all the things -> happiness hardly seems to fit, but if we look to Jesus -> to the promises if His Word and the Glory if His cross -> a holy joy begins to hum underneath the sound of earthly sorrow. He is the best friend that’s got your back and will literally die for you. Literally He died on a cross just for you because he LOVES you!. And by showing that same love to Him, He will watch your back 24/7. Now that is such a great feeling to have and a reminder to know.

It’s okay to wait.

As young adults the one thing we desire to seek are relationships. Especially in today’s society it is like it’s a “requirement” to go ahead a find a young man/ or woman because we want it and feel like we need it. As Christians we know that our God has that special someone in our lives already picked out, it is just the matter of waiting for the right time to meet that person. Waiting can be very frustrating, but I promise you that it will be worth it. For example, In high school I never rushed into dating because I knew God had a man in store for me but there were times when I wanted to find a boy and start dating him just so I can experience being in a relationship at least once in my lifetime. Of course I never I did that, but the questions were starting to dart at Him. I kept asking Him why I haven’t encountered the right man yet. Like literally this how my prayer would go ⇒ “Dear Lord I know you have the right man picked out for me but why haven’t you introduced him to me yet? Or at least shove a boy at me so i can experience dating at least once. I know there are strong Christian males out in this world but why are they just too hard to find?…”

You see that was the problem. I kept searching instead of sitting back and letting the Lord do his work. It wasn’t until recently when God gave me an answer to part of multiple questions. He proved to me that there are strong Christian males in this world, and that I just haven’t encountered them yet. Now whether that specific man is the “one” is up to the Lord for telling me, but it did give me assurance that there is nothing wrong with waiting. In fact being patient with the Lord is the best thing that you could possibly do because the more you wait, the more the Lord will think you’re ready to begin your future with your spouse. So don’t rush into the dating scene. It is okay to wait for the time to come, and especially pray for your partner too. Even though you don’t know them just yet, doesn’t mean they aren’t praying for you too, and that right there is something special to look forward to.

Resolute (part 3)

Resolute: Admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering.

3 areas we must stand resolute:

    – Character: Who you are when no one is looking.

– Who am I when no one is looking?

* fun fact: Daniel is about 70 years old by Daniel chapter 6

Daniel 6:3 ” Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” ⇒ How are you distinguishing yourself in life?

– There are different ways to distinguish yourself to make you stand out.

– If you don’t stand strong in your character of Christ, it will bite you back!

– You won’t be given places of Leadership, Authority, or Responsibility unless you have proven you can be trusted with the SMALL things.

– Small character flaws will sink your ship with God if you don’t handle it NOW!

Daniel 6:10 “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.”

– What is you pursuit posture?

– Excuses we make:

* I don’t have time

* I’m tired

– We can pursue Christ through prayer!

– We will never experience a relationship with God if we don’t pull the kite to catch the wind and roll us along.

– How to pursue God:

* Grab a journal

* Grab a pen and Bible

* Highlight verses ⇒ explain in your own words

* Pray about it

– We must put ourselves in that posture

– H.E.A.R. : Highlight, Explain, Apply, Respond

2nd Timothy 3: 12-13 “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

– When we face opposition it’s not guaranteed God will shut the lion’s mouth, but we just trust and know God has our backs

Daniel 6:20 ” When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice,” Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

Question : Has He saved me?

Answer : YES HE HAS!

Resolute (Part 2).

Daniel 3

King Neb (a.k.a. veggie tales bunny) builds a HUGE gold statue

Daniel 3:4-6 // ” Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”

*This was Right after King Neb. had met God

Romans 1:24-25 // “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator who is forever praised. Amen.”

– How often do we see God, only to go worship something else?

|| For fears of mortal death, they worshiped a statue, which cost them enternal life. In doing so they cost others enternal life too. Because everyone else was going to do it. WE VALUE OUR STATUES OVER THE HOLINESS OF GOD ||

You will do what you love…do you love Jesus?

Daniel 3: 8-19 || 15-16|| ” At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews. They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, ” May the king live forever! Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon- Shadrach, Meshach,and Abednego- who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, ” Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to him,” King Nebuchadnezzar, we do no need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from You Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual.”

Daniel 3: 24-25 ” Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisors, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied,” Certainly, Your Majesty.” He said, ” Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed,and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

|| If you put yourself on the line for Him, He will be there with you in the fire ||

You know God is the only God but have you surrendered to Him?
Jesus saves, let Him save you.

I started a 3 week series in Daniel 1 called Resolute, and I wanted to share my notes that I took out of the sermons. So with that being said, here is week 1 of Resolute.

There are consequences when coming to disobey God -> SIN WILL FIND YOU
Daniel and his friends were taken captive in luxury ; that’s how we want to be usually
In verse 5 is says “to be trained..”
– Literally: “to be made strong, great, wealthy, and important”

Daniel and his friend’s Jewish names were changed into false gods names, when held captive in Babylon

Daniel 1:8 ” But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.” -> but Daniel resolved not to defile himself…

Big Question: Are you resolved to not defile yourself?
-What does this mean?   ->     Resolve in Holiness

Leviticus 9:

Daniel resolved and said that nothing is more important than having intimacy and a relationship with God.

I have to follow these Godly rules vs. nothing can compare having intimacy with God

There can’t be anything more beautiful than God, and  normally we don’t see the beauty of God because we are distracted.

In our eyes it is just simple food, but I’m Daniel’s eyes it is sin

Standing resolute in Holiness requires:

  1. unquestionable obedience
  2. A willingness to do without (We are drawn to sin because we are scared of missing out)
  3. Trusting God as Lord regardless of the circumstances

1st Peter 3:15 // “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”

This is how we should resolve ourselves.
